A Psalm of Repentance - Part 2

February 15, 2026 · Pastor Marc Williamson · 1:02:15

Is there a difference between being sorry and truly repenting? Many people feel bad about their sin and never turn from it. In this second message from Psalm 51, we learn why repentance is an essential part of salvation.

Key Verse: "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." - 2 Corinthians 7:10 (KJV)

Jesus commanded that repentance and remission of sins be preached in His name among all nations, and Paul preached that men should repent and turn to God and do works meet for repentance. In this part of A Psalm of Repentance, Pastor Marc Williamson shows that there is no true conversion without repentance, and that repentance is not a once-and-done event. He contrasts the godly sorrow that turns a heart from sin with the worldly sorrow of Esau, who regretted the consequences but never turned to God.

Worldly sorrow only regrets getting caught. Godly sorrow turns from sin to God, and it leads to salvation.
