Faith's Necessity Of Not Forsaking
Is going to church really that important when you can watch the service from home? Jesus warned that as the day of His return draws near, sin would abound and the love of many would grow cold. The writer of Hebrews ties that danger directly to the gathering of God's people.
Key Verse: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." - Hebrews 10:25 (KJV)
Back in the pulpit after Camp Meeting, Pastor Marc Williamson preaches from Hebrews 10 on why the local church is not an accessory to the Christian life. What we consistently make time for reveals what matters most to us. He shows how this command sits right between the saving response to the gospel and the warnings against drawing back, which makes our faithfulness to the assembly a way of examining our own profession of faith. And he reminds us that we gather for one another, to stir each other up to love and good works and to strengthen the weary.
The closer we get to the Lord's return, the more we need each other. Make the house of God a priority, not an afterthought.
