Right Worship vs. Rejected Worship

August 3, 2025 · Pastor Marc Williamson · 47:30

Not all worship is accepted by God. Cain and Abel were brothers raised in the same home, and both came to worship the Lord. But God had respect unto Abel's offering and rejected Cain's.

Key Verse: "And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect." - Genesis 4:4-5 (KJV)

How did Cain and Abel know what the Lord required and where to bring their offerings? God had revealed it. In this message from A Journey Through Genesis, Pastor Marc Williamson shows that Abel offered by faith in what God had revealed, while Cain came his own way. Faith always rests on God's revelation, and worship that ignores what God has said is worship He rejects. Cain's anger led to murder and finally to his going out from the presence of the Lord.

God decides how He is to be approached. Right worship comes by faith in what He has revealed, through the blood of the sacrifice He has provided.
