The Core of the Christian Life

September 27, 2026 · Pastor Marc Williamson · 39:00

It is possible to be busy with sermons, songs, Bible study, fellowships, and ministry and still lose sight of what matters most. This simple but profound message cuts through it all to the core of the Christian life: to please God in everything we do, whether anyone is watching or not. In John 8, surrounded by enemies who called Him a liar, slandered His birth, mocked Him, and took up stones to cast at Him, Jesus was never controlled by public opinion or peer pressure, because He stayed anchored to one thing: pleasing the Father. The Apostle Paul lived with the judgment seat of Christ in view and made it his goal to be well pleasing to the Lord, measuring his life not by comfort, approval, or visible results. And his prayer for the Colossians shows what a God-pleasing life looks like: a worthy walk that reflects Christ, a fruitful faith that serves others and advances the gospel, an increasing knowledge of God, and Spirit-empowered perseverance with joyfulness. When pleasing God becomes the supreme focus, it guides and guards every part of life.
