The Presentation of Jesus - Part 1
Most Christians know what happened at the manger, but Luke goes on to record what happened in the weeks that followed. Joseph and Mary carefully kept every part of the law with the infant Jesus, and each ceremony had a purpose.
Key Verse: "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons." - Galatians 4:4-5 (KJV)
In Luke 2, Jesus is circumcised and named, Mary offers the sacrifice for her purification, and the child is presented to the Lord in the temple, where Simeon and Anna recognize Him. In this message from the Behold Your King series, Pastor Marc Williamson explains these ceremonies and why they matter. Jesus was born under the law so that He could keep it perfectly, and the redemption price paid for a firstborn son foreshadowed the Redeemer who came to purchase a people under the curse of the law.
The One who was presented in the temple came to redeem us. Have you received the redemption He came to bring?
