The Presentation of Jesus - Part 2
It seems like we have lost a generation of Simeons. These were saints who were the same on Friday night as they were on Sunday morning, who sang hymns outside of church and handed out gospel tracts wherever they went. The church needs people like that today.
Key Verse: "Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation." - Luke 2:29-30 (KJV)
When Joseph and Mary brought the infant Jesus to the temple with the offering of the poor, a pair of turtledoves, an old man named Simeon was waiting. He was just and devout, the Holy Ghost was upon him, and he took the child in his arms and blessed God. In this second message on the presentation of Jesus, Pastor Marc Williamson holds up Simeon as an example. He wasn't saying he wanted to die. He was ready to die, because he had seen the Lord's salvation.
You can be Spirit-filled and still want to live, but a Spirit-filled believer is ready to go. Be a Simeon in this generation.
