Three Responses to the King
When the wise men came asking, "Where is he that is born King of the Jews?" not everyone responded the same way. Some made a long and costly journey to worship Him. Herod was troubled and plotted against Him. The religious leaders knew exactly where He would be born and never went to see Him.
Key Verse: "When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him." - Matthew 2:10-11 (KJV)
Closing our Behold Your King series, Pastor Marc Williamson walks through Matthew 2 and the three responses to the newborn King. He describes the danger and expense of the wise men's journey and the star that led them, and he shows what kind of king Herod was, a ruler so ruthless that Caesar said it was better to be Herod's pig than his son. He explains the meaning of the gifts as well: gold for a king, frankincense for a priest and myrrh for One who came to die.
Every person still responds to Jesus in one of these ways. Will you resist Him, ignore Him or fall down and worship Him?
